Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. She started her career as an actor on Broadway and Off Broadway. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about performing. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in the one ear. However, she refused to let that to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actor. In her early years, she was a drama student in college and moved into New York City from Pittsburgh to achieve her goals. Hunter was trapped in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They worked together to write Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. After moving from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land film roles. The role of a supporting actress was securing for Swing Shift. Her work spans over thirty years and she's appeared in a variety of TV films or series, as well as films.
